Medieval Galleries at The Art Institute of Chicago

Designed by Quenroe Associates, IDEA as Architect of Record managed the design team and assisted in all project phases. The Medieval Galleries features a vast range of artifacts from painting, jewelry, ceramics, sculpture, tapestries and arms and armor. The space was designed thematically to give the collection a historical reference and backdrop.

Challenges

The collection is extremely popular with the public so it was decided to locate it in an area of the museum that was a bit remote from the main circulation routes to help bring visitors to other less traveled parts of the museum.
